Hi, welcome to
the 3D tutorial for the making of commonly used
pencil.
Step1: Activate the snap, angle
snap, percentage snap toggle.
Step2: Click the shapes in the create
panel.
Step3: Clicking on the line, draw the shape in the FRONT
VIEWPORT as shown in fig.01.

Step4:
Line still selected, click on the Hierarchy tab and then enter the value=0 in
the z-axis shown in the fig.02.

Step5:
Apply the lathe modifier, then select weldcore and segment value =24. Select the
X-axis and Align the Min shown as in the fig.03.

Step6:
Add edit mesh modifier and select all vertices under sub-object mode. Click the
selected button with the value=1 for the weld as shown in the fig.04.

Step7:
Save the work. Click polygon mode in the sub-object and select the tip polygons
for the pencil object. Change value=1 in the surface properties and press enter
on Keyboard, as shown in the fig.05.

Step8:
Repeat the above steps for taper part and other parts with the material IDs as
2and4 respectively as shown in the fig.06.

Step9:
Repeat the above steps for majority of the body with material ID=3 as shown in
the fig.07.

Step10:
Exit the sub-object mode and save the file with the name "pencil.max".
